Proulx returns

Veteran safety Matthieu Proulx will dress for Friday’s game at Molson Stadium against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Alouettes’ head coach Marc Trestman confirmed on Monday.

Proulx sustained a hamstring injury July 11, at Edmonton. He has been replaced by Etienne Boulay.

Trestman wouldn’t speculate on which player would start against the Riders, although Proulx was the first-string safety before his injury.

“Both will play extensively and trade off and have opportunities,” Trestman said. “Who starts is not as important as the fact both will be heavily involved.”

Meanwhile, receiver Brian Bratton, who sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter last week, against Toronto, was on the field but didn’t work out. Nonetheless, Trestman won’t rule him out, yet, from this week’s game, noting all his tests have been negative. Still, it would probably be prudent to give Bratton a game off, we believe.

Bratton isn’t expected to practice before Wednesday, at the earliest.

Finally, linebacker Diamond Ferri received a day off for personal reasons.
